Sacramento’s Water Treatment Plant
The Sacramento River Water Treatment Plant has been supplying the city with clean drinking water for more than a century. But for years, the facility’s small staff has faced worker shortages, skyrocketing overtime and a risk of burnout as they work to keep the water flowing. CapRadio Local Government Reporter Riley Palmer joins Insight to talk about the issues facing the plant, and possible solutions city officials are considering to improve conditions.
Center for Inclusive Democracy
For more than a decade, the Center for Inclusive Democracy (CID) has been a nonpartisan resource for understanding voting behaviors and barriers to the political process. Mindy Romero is the Founder and Director of CID, which recently announced its transition to an independent national organization, following academic affiliations with USC, and before that UC Davis. We’ll learn more about what this means for voters as they look to engage with civic resources during this midterm election year.
SPCA Community Cat Program
It may be the dog days of summer but for animal shelters, it’s all about kitten season. As temperatures rise, shelters see a surge in newborn cats, putting a strain on the system. Today on Insight, Jennifer Brent, the Chief Executive Officer of the Sacramento SPCA, and Chief Development Officer Sarah Haney join us to talk about the resources they provide to support felines and help keep the population under control.
