Make a Gift From Your Will or Trust

You can make a gift (bequest) to CapRadio general operations through your will or living trust in the following ways:

• A percentage of your remaining estate is designated, and your gift to CapRadio naturally reflects changes in the size of your estate over time.
• A specific gift amount is designated, allowing you to name a set amount you wish to leave to CapRadio.
• A contingent bequest, in which CapRadio only receives a gift if other conditions are met. For example, your gift will occur only if your spouse does not survive you.

Sample Bequest Language 

Here is an example of wording to share with your estate planning attorney:

“I give [describe dollar amount or percentage of estate residue] to Capital Public Radio, a California not-for-profit corporation, for its general purposes. CapRadio’s primary office is located at 7055 Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento, CA 95826-2625.”

Note: The above is suggested language only. Please consult with an estate advising professional to confirm your wishes. All deferred gifts will be used for CapRadio general operating activities.

Designate CapRadio as a Beneficiary

Make sure your assets go where you intend by reviewing beneficiary designations for non-will assets like life insurance or retirement plans. You’ll need to check with your broker for details and use the appropriate form.
