The Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra will present the final concert of its 23rd season this coming weekend. Called Light and Fire, the concert will include performances of choral works by contemporary composer Dan Forrest and choral and orchestral works by Felix Mendelssohn. Forrest’s piece, “LUX: The Dawn From On High” is a West Coast premiere. Founding conductor Dr. Donald Kendrick is in the studio with Insight to preview this weekend’s May 4 concert.

The Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra is made up of more than 140 singers and 55 professional orchestral musicians. The concert includes Mendelssohn’s “Die Erste Walpurgisnacht” and “Fingal’s Cave,” also known as “The Hebrides” overture.
