For this week's Sound Advice, Peter Wilson returns to Insight to feature four artists performing at the 21st annual KVMR Celtic Festival. The Celtic Festival is happening this weekend at the Nevada County fairgrounds. This week, Peter picks songs from Skerryvore, Cassie and Maggie MacDonald, Screaming Orphans, and Calan.
SKERRYVORE – “Happy To Be Home”
Skerryvore were twice named “Scotland’s Traditional Music Live Act Of The Year” in 2011 and 2016. Hailing from the Scottish Isle of Tiree, the 8 piece band will release their sixth studio album in 2018. They’re performing at the Celtic Festival on Saturday at 4:30 and 8:30 p.m., and on Sunday at 2:45 and 5:15 p.m.
CASSIE AND MAGGIE MACDONALD – “Hangman”
Cassie and Maggie MacDonald are a Canadian-Celtic folk duo from Halifax, Canada. Cassie and Maggie MacDonald perform at 12:30 and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 12:30 and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
SCREAMING ORPHANS – “Step In Out Mary”
Screaming Orphans are a Celtic pop band from Donegal, Ireland. Screaming Orphans perform at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 12:30 and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
CALAN – “Apparition”
Calan wrote this song inspired by entries from the diary of Edmund Jones on the fairy realm of south Wales. Calan performs at 12:00 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
