Former Senate President Darrell Steinberg (left) and Steve Boilard (right) from the Center for California Studies discuss the unintended consequences of propositions. California voters passed Proposition 47 in November and now lawmakers have to deal with the unintended consequences. We’ll talk to former Senate Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg about how California’s initiative process creates legal wrinkles that have to get ironed out later by judges and legislators. As one of his final legislative actions, Steinberg sponsored SB 1253, which amended the California initiative process. We’ll also talk to Steve Boilard from the Center for California Studies to look back at propositions before Prop. 47 that also required legislative revisions. LINKS LA Times
