Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg is hoping to renew the half-cent sales tax established under Measure U and expand it to a full cent. The proposal, which would be on the November ballot, would generate funds to pay for jobs, housing and social-equity programs.

He also discussed his views on rent control, inclusive development and the need to address generational poverty in the city.
