Hey, Listen! host Nick Brunner returns to Sound Advice this week, touching on this year’s NorCal Noisefest, how the sound of Tom Petty can still be found in artists like Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett and a Sacramento native remixes a notable indie rock group.

His picks this week:

INSTAGON - "5 Miles To Timbuktu" from Black Cactus

NorCal Noisefest runs October 6-8. You can watch Lob Instagon performances on the YouTube channel.

Tom Petty - "Wildflowers" from Wildflowers

Legendary rock musician and songwriter Tom Petty died this week.

Kurt Vile & Courtney Barnett - "Over Everything' from Lotta Sea Lice

The long-awaited collaboration between Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett dropped a new single in August with the full-length record due out this month.

Mount Kimbie with King Krule - "Blue Train Lines" from Love What Remains

This song was Nick Brunner's pick for the NPR music series Heavy Rotation.

Dirty Projectors - "Cool Your Heart (Raleigh Moncrief remix)" from Cool Your Heart EP

Sacramento's own Robbie Moncrief remixed this song.
