Jazz Trombone Master Wayne Wallace Comes to Sacramento

San Francisco native Wayne Wallace is an accomplished trombone player and five-time Grammy nominee. His group, the Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet, just released a new record called "The Rhythm of Invention." It has received a four-star review in Downbeat magazine.

Wallace is an accomplished arranger, educator and composer, including for film and television. He has performed, recorded and studied with Afro-Latin and Jazz masters, including Aretha Franklin, Bobby Hutcherson, Earth Wind and Fire, Pete Escovedo, Santana, Julian Priester, Conjunto Libre, John Santos, Whitney Houston, Tito Puente, Steve Turre, John Lee Hooker, Con-funk-shun, Francisco Aguabella, Manny Oquendoand Libre, Max Roach, and Orestes Vilató.

Wallace spoke with CapRadio Jazz Music Director, Gary Vercelli, ahead of Wallace’s upcoming performance on Thursday for Jazz Night at the Crocker Art Museum.
