Former Assembly Speaker and current State Senator Toni Atkins has spent years trying to build political support for permanent funding of affordable housing projects. Earlier this month, the California Legislature passed S.B. 2 and Governor Brown is expected to sign it into law. In this week's installment of our affordable housing series in partnership with The View From Here: Place And Privilege, Senator Toni Atkins joins the program to discuss the future of funding affordable housing in California, the political deal making to make it happen, and how it might impact the homelessness crisis in San Diego that has resulted in a hepatitis outbreak.
