Jazz saxophonist, teacher and bandleader Jacam Manricks is launching his Jacam Manricks Orchestra this weekend with a performance at The Auditorium at CLARA.

Manricks plans to film the concert for his Kickstarter supporters, and to help defray the costs of assembling so many in-demand musicians.

The 19 piece orchestra features a stacked lineup of top-notch local and regional jazz musicians. The group includes: saxophonists Levi Saelua, Mike McMullen, Lucas Bere, Marti Sarigul Klijn, and John Doolitte; trumpet players Tony Marvelli, Joe Mazzaferro, Steve Roach, and Gianni Perugini; trombonists Phil Tulga, Brandon Au, Al Bent and Jonathan Minnick; plus pianist Scott Collard, guitarist Aryin Anderson, bassist Ben Kopf, drummer Tim Metz, and vibraphonist Jackson Irvine.

The program features several original compositions by Manricks, like “Cry,” “Nucleus,” “Think,” and “This Here.” The song “Cry” is deeply personal for him, capturing the emotions of fatherhood after hearing his newborn son’s first cry.

You can see the Jacam Manricks Orchestra’s debut concert on Sunday, October 13 at The Auditorium at CLARA, the doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:00 p.m.
