Sofia Webster was just 14 years old when she got Lyme disease from a tick on a Girl Scouts camping trip. The debilitating effects of the disease forced her to leave college early and she continues to battle with the illness a decade later.

Her story is being documented in the upcoming film "Becoming Incurable." Sofia has joined with Dorothy Leland of LymeDisease.org to bring awareness of the illness to the Sacramento region.

They're also hosting their annual picnic, which is Sunday, September 10, at 1 p.m. at  Madera Park in Citrus Heights.
