Yolo Food Truck Campaign / Facebook An estimated 44,000 people in Yolo County are food insecure and many of them lack transportation to reach the Yolo County Food Bank. A coalition of people and community organizations have come together for a county-wide crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to purchase a refrigerated truck for the Yolo County Food Bank. Not only would the truck be able to provide food to people who need it, but it would also allow the food bank to take better advantage of surplus food from local farmers and merchants. We’ll talk with Heidi Smith and Renee Dryfoos about food security issues facing Yolo County residents and learn more about the campaign to purchase a refrigerated truck.
