Mental illness is more common than you might think. In Sacramento County alone, more than 300,000 people live with mental illness.

A project titled “Mental Illness: It’s not always what you think” seeks to raise awareness about mental illness and fight the stigma that surrounds it. Sacramento County has teamed up with a collaborative art exhibit called “Journey of Hope” to tell stories and inspiring understanding. The exhibit opens today and will run through the month.

Chantal Allen-Jarrell is the Health Educator for Sacramento County and Karen Hinson is the coordinator for the “Journey of Hope” exhibit. They join Insight Guest Host Pamela Wu to talk about the art work and resources available to those who need help.
