California National Guard troops will be deployed to the Mexico border, Gov. Jerry Brown's office announced on Wednesday, answering President Donald Trump's national call for border states to help with security.

Capitol Bureau Chief Ben Adler explains why this is being seen as a smart move for California's governor.
