Lauren Markham is a journalist and author of the book “The Far Away Brothers: Two Young Migrants & The Making of an American Life.”  The book was awarded the Northern California Book Award, The California Book Award Silver Medal, and the Ridenhour Prize.  Earlier this year, Markham announced the book would be adapted for young adults.

The New York Times said the book “... makes vibrantly real an issue that some see only as theoretical, illuminating aspects of the immigrant experience normally hidden from view.”

Markham joins Insight to preview her appearance at the Auburn One Book One Community event. The event will be moderated by Beth Ruyak will be held on Wed. April 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Placer High School Auditorium.

Lauren Markham will also appear on Sunday, April 14th at Litquake's "The Art of Publishing" event panel at Z Below in San Francisco.
