Robin Farina / Facebook Pictured: Whitney Schultz The 10th annual Amgen Tour of California gets rolling this weekend. The female cycling teams will kick off the tour in South Lake Tahoe Friday morning. Then both male and female cyclists converge in Sacramento on Sunday for the start of the men’s tour. But it wasn’t long ago this was an entirely male tour. This is the fifth year women have participated in the tour and their role has grown from one to four days in that time. Joining us to talk about women’s expanding presence in the tour are two female cyclists with ties to Northern California who are competing in this year’s race.
