Gov. Gavin Newsom presents his revised 2019 budget proposal.

Andrew Nixon / Capital Public Radio

Not everything about the state budget is clear or straightforward. It requires a lot of attention to detail and keeping up with lots of hearings and twists and turns in negotiations between lawmakers. Well, CapRadio has a person who follows this very closely in Capitol Bureau Chief, Ben Adler.

We’ll hear more about the discussion about subsidies for health insurance, covering younger undocumented Californians and other developments in health insurance.

And Adler talks to Peter Lee, the Executive Director of Covered California. Lee talks about this package of subsidies, the individual mandate in the state budget deal and what this means for California consumers.

Read more on the trailer bills that accompany state budgets here.

Listen to Adler discuss the budget proposal to expand health coverage for undocumented immigrants here.
