Journalist Ginger Rutland grew up in Sacramento in the 1950s. Her play, ‘When We Were Colored,’ is based on her mother’s memoir of the same name. The play had a sold-out run at the Sacramento Theater Company in the spring of 2019. And it’s being mounted again, this time in Oak Park, so more people can see it.

In this production, Rutland’s niece, who is a Los Angeles-based actress, will play Rutland’s mother, Eva.

Guest

  • Journalist and ‘When We Were Colored’ playwright Ginger Rutland
