Four in 10 American adults are family caregivers. They provide for the needs of parents, spouses, children with disabilities, and siblings. It’s a labor of love that takes a toll physically, emotionally, financially. Who cares for the caregivers? How do they care for themselves? Capital Public Radio’s documentary unit The View From Here explores these questions and more through the lives of three caregiving families in its latest documentary “Who Cares.”
In the lead up to the airing of the documentary, “Insight” is focusing on different aspects of caregiving. To begin, we’re figuring out who caregivers are in America, and what it takes to be a caregiver. Executive Director of the Family Caregiver Alliance and the National Center on Caregiving Kathleen Kelly joins us to answer these questions. “Who Cares” airs Friday morning at 9 a.m. in place of Insight.
