Sen. Dianne Feinstein is the incumbent in the 2018 U.S. Senate race, but she failed to win the party's endorsement.

Ben Adler / Capital Public Radio

Capitol Bureau Chief Ben Adler recaps a weekend of surprising endorsements (and non-endorsements) by the California Democratic Party at the statewide convention in San Diego.

Adler discusses Kevin de Leon finshing above Sen. Dianne Feinstein in the endorsement vote in the US Senate race, though neither candidate recieved enough support for an offical party endorsement. The four Democrats running for governor didn't get enough delegates to win an endorsement, but John Chiang claimed victory for blocking Gavin Newsom. Also, state Sen.Tony Mendoza resigned for this term but is running again.
