This Saturday, Yuba City is holding a viewing party to watch California Chrome compete in the Belmont Stakes, which is the last of the three races that make the trifecta of races known as the Triple Crown. Walter Webb II teaches in Yuba City and will be attending the viewing party with a guitar and a CD of a song he’s written to honor the horse’s potential victory. The song is called “California ‘Triple Crown’ Chrome,” and Webb is joining us in our studio to perform it ahead of Saturday’s festivities.

-Yuba City's celebration will be held on Plumas Street from just south of Church Street to Bridge Street

-Street closures will begin at 10 a.m. and run through 8 p.m.  There will be one 9-foot-by-12-foot viewing screen at the north end of the event at Church and Plumas streets, and one 9-foot-by-12-foot LCD screen toward the south end of the event near Fremont and Plumas streets.

-Parking will be available at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds north lot off of C Street and main lot off Franklin Road.  Parking also will be available at Gauche Aquatic Park and at the former site of Feather River Mills at the southeast corner of Shasta and Bridge streets.

-Shuttles, courtesy of the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce, will be running a loop, transporting guests from hotels and satellite parking sites at River Valley High School, Yuba City High School and the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds.  RVs and buses carrying attendees are encouraged to park at the satellite sites and be shuttled into the event.
