Today is Human Rights Day. This marks the 70th anniversary of the United Nations adopting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In the last seven decades, a lot has changed, but there’s always more work to do to protect the civil and political liberties of all people on Earth.

UC Davis Professor Keith Watenpaugh returns to Insight on Human Rights Day with an update from the Article 26 Backpack project. The project enables displaced persons to securely store and share documents, such as transcripts and resumes, with universities, scholarship agencies and employers. Nearly 600 people have created virtual backpacks since the project launched in Lebanon this spring.
