Last night, some 300 people came out to the Dixon City Council meeting as the city's vice mayor, Ted Hickman, spoke publicly for the first time about a controversial newspaper column he wrote. The column, published in the Independent Voice on June 29, disparaged LGBTQ people and declared July "straight pride awareness month."
Capital Public Radio's Bob Moffitt covered the story. He joins Insight to talk more about the controversy and the people who came to the meeting to speak out for and against Hickman last night.
