Latest On Coronavirus In California, National Politics

In the aftermath of the first California resident to die from the coronavirus, California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a statewide emergency to deal with the virus, at a Capitol news conference in Sacramento, Calif., Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sunday amidst the coronavirus outbreak rolled out directives to prioritize those 65 years and older, and those with chronic conditions.

Newsom called those in the age range “the most vulnerable group,” urging compliance but not enforcement of the state’s recommendations, at this point. He also put an emphasis on California’s homeless population.
