For every 100 works of art on display, only three to five pieces are likely to be by a woman artist.

A new exhibit at the Haggin Museum in Stockton aims to change to that. “Full Sun: American Women Artists Illuminate the Haggin Museum” features paintings and sculptures by well-known female artists from across America.

The exhibit opens tomorrow (Aug. 2) and runs through Sept. 16. Susan Obert, Deputy Director of the Haggin Museum, and Kathy Waste, a Sacramento-based artist, discuss the exhibit, the artists participating in it and how it came to be.

The Haggin Museum is also holding a free and open to the public symposium on Women in the Arts on Saturday, Aug. 4.

Watch this video to learn more about the Haggin Museum.
