The Democratic presidential candidates have fanned out in different directions: to Nevada, South Carolina and to the West. The next contests will start to solidify who’s a contender and who’s not.

Meanwhile, President Trump is trying to consolidate his own base. He has also taken some actions that look like retribution against those who testified against him in the House before his impeachment, and in the case of Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, during the Senate trial. And then there are court cases involving Trump allies and a stand-off in the Justice Department.
