Evolution Of California's Voting History

As Californians prepare to go to the polls in the June primary election and November general election, the California Museum has an all-new exhibit surveying the evolution of how our state votes.

Covering state election history from 1850 to today, the museum has everything from 1864 absentee ballots for California’s enlisted Civil War troops to statewide women’s suffrage in 1911 to the 2003 recall that elected Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

California Secretary of State Alex Padilla and California Museum Executive Director Amanda Meeker join Insight to talk about the history of voting in California. The museum exhibit runs through November 13.
