0812 The Black Mage

Rachel Carter’s, a Fair Oaks native, UC Davis grad, and current resident of Placerville, first novel entitled The Black Mage: First-Year will be released Tuesday, Aug. 12. The novel is the first of her young adult fantasy/romance series about a young female protagonist who enrolls in war school to learn fighting magic, a storyline similar to the popular “Hunger Games” or “Divergent” series.

The book will first be available electronically and then be published in paperback once it has reached $500 in gross sales. UC Davis will be featuring her book release in their alumni newsletter.
