Capitol Chat: California Lawmakers Considering Bills To Address Affordable Housing Crisis

As housing affordability and supply remains a serious issue for many Californians, state lawmakers are weighing a variety of solutions.

Several new bills set to be voted on when the legislature returns from summer recess have already garnered controversy. One would mandate housing development in cities not complying with state law, one creates priority housing zones, another creates a $75 fee for any real estate documents involved in a sale and there’s certain to be many more to come.

Capitol Bureau Chief Ben Adler has been following the legislation developments closely for this week's Capitol Chat.
