Firefighters have gained significant containment on the wildfires raging in Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino Counties, but there's still a tough battle ahead. At least 40 Californians have been killed thus far and thousands of structures burned to the ground.

CALFIRE Battalion Chief  Michael Mohler explains the fight on the ground. National Weather Service meterologist Eric Kurth discusses the cooler weather in the forecast. KZYX Mendocino general manager Jeffrey Parker discusses the unique situation facing Mendocino County's massive fire.

The hotline for the Mendocino County Emergency Operations Center, where people displaced by the fires are being asked to call to account for themselves, family members and neighbors, is 707-467-6428. It's staffed 24/7 with receptionists speaking both English and Spanish.
