Checking In On The New 'Vote Centers'

A drop-off ballot box in San Mateo County.

At least five California counties, including Sacramento, used new Vote Centers instead of neighborhood polling places in Tuesday's primary election.
Beth Ruyak speaks with Sacramento County Communication and Media Officer Paige Bedegrew about the new system. Bedegrew says a measure of its success will be the final voter turnout numbers. Ballots had to be dropped off at one of 78 Vote Centers or in one of 53 dropboxes by 8 p.m.

Ruyak also checkes in with Xioneida Ruiz, Elections Services Manager in Napa County, where 90 percent of voters already vote by mail; Philip Chantri, the Placer County Elections Manager; and Melinda Dubroff, the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters.
