The Difference Between Hate Speech And Free Speech

The First Amendment protects Americans' right to free speech, but not hate speech. UC Merced sociology Prof. Nella Van Dyke joins Insight to explain the difference between hate speech and free speech, and discuss research on why hate crimes are on the rise in the United States.

She's presenting the latest research in a talk called "Hate Speech, Free Speech" on the UC Merced Campus tomorrow from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
