Of all the debate surrounding California's affordable housing crisis, there's one fact that every stakeholder can agree on: the supply of housing stock is far smaller than the demand. On this week's installment of Insight's collaboration with The View From Here: Place And Privilege, we're talking about housing supply issues.
Bernadette Austin is the associate director for the UC Davis Center for Regional Change. She also serves on the West Sacramento Planning Commission and the local district council of the Urban Land Institute. Austin is one of the featured voices in the documentary that will be released on October 6.
In this conversation she explands on some of the factors driving the California housing shortage. Joining her is Tyrone Buckley, the policy director with Housing California. Buckley is an advocate who lobbies the California Legislature to address finance and land use issues to provide more affordable housing across the state.
