Cut Down Your Own Christmas Tree To Help Prevent Wildfires

National forests across California sell Christmas tree permits to the public every year. Evelyn George and her family cut down their Christmas tree near Lake Tahoe this year.

California forest managers sell permits to cut down your of Christmas tree. The practice helps reduce the fuel load for potential wildfires, but the pools of permits in each forest are still small compared to the number of trees that need to be removed.
