Immigration is a critical issue in the California governor’s race, and the Trump administration’s policy to separate immigrant children from their parents at the border has focused attention on the issue. Republican gubernatorial candidate John Cox made a claim recently regarding his competitor in this year’s election, Democrat Gavin Newsom. Cox said that Newsom separated and deported families while he was mayor of San Francisco. PolitiFact California reporter Chris Nichols takes a look at the claim and explains what he found.
We’ll also discuss the efforts by the cannabis industry and cities to establish pot-friendly lounges, cafes and hotels across California and the limits on smoking pot at home near kids.
