'City Rising' Documentary Explores Gentrification And Housing Discrimination

Even after the major legislative actions on housing this past year, finding an affordable place to live in California is still very difficult.

Sacramento is among a growing number of cities in the Golden State where gentrification has dramatically changed the cultural landscape and forced entrenched communities out of long held neighborhoods.

A new film by the public media organization KCET takes a deep look into gentrification of several cities across the state including Oakland, Long Beach and Oak Park here in Sacramento.

The Executive Producer behind “City Rising” and KCET's Chief Creative Officer Juan Devis joins Sacramento Housing Alliance Executive Director Darryl Rutherford to explain the scope of the problem and what’s being done locally to support those in need.
