Sacramento Painter Gregory Kondos Going Strong At 95

Sacramento painter Gregory Kondos just celebrated his 95th birthday.

Recognized as one of the world's most prominent California landscape artists, Gregory Kondos has won numerous prizes and has works in permanent collections of many museums, including the Yosemite Museum, where he has been a member of the Artist-in-Residence Program since 1989.

Kondos just celebrated his 95th birthday and on the same weekend, he attended the opening of a new exhibit of his work in San Francisco.

Kondos’ parents brought him to Sacramento in 1927 – it’s been his home ever since – and he continues to paint. He joins Insight host Beth Ruyak in studio to talk about his work today and why he still enjoys the big paintings.
