Egypt's State of Emergency Egypt has declared a national emergency following violent clashes this week between protesters and the military-led government that left more than 500 people dead. The state of emergency is expected to last a month and will impose a curfew in Cairo. We're speaking with Sacramento residents with family in Egypt about the escalating unrest in the country, including Imam Mohamed Abdul-Azeez, the religious leader of the SALAM Islamic Center in Sacramento. We're also joined by Tamir Sukkary, Adjunct Professor of Political Science at American River College and Sacramento City College.

Investing in Energy Efficiency Is it worth the initial investment to upgrade your home or office building to conserve water and energy? The answer is looking more like yes. California utility customers installed a record-breaking amount of solar panels last year and more commercial buildings are becoming LEED certified. This comes as funds from the California Solar Initiative, the nation's largest photovoltaic rebate scheme, are dwindling. We're taking a look at the cost and benefit of investing in energy efficiency and a new financing model called Property Assessed Clean Energy, or PACE, that helps eliminate prohibitive upfront costs of efficiency upgrades.
