Student Loan Interest Rates On Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a Senate plan that will result in reduced student loan interest rate, and President Obama is expected to approve it soon. This decision comes as a relief to many students and parents who, since a rate increase on July 1, had been expecting to have to pay much more. Today, Gina Banks, UC Davis director of federal government relations will explain this new plan and how the reduced rate will affect past, present and future students.
