Capitol Chat California has a budget for the fiscal year beginning Monday. California Governor Jerry Brown signed the budget into law yesterday. Capitol Bureau Chief Ben Adler joins us today for an update on what is actually covered in the budget, with a look back at the line-item vetoes on the Governor's plate this week.
Blue Planet Prize Daniel Sperling, director of the Institute of Transportation Studies at UC Davis, is one of two recipients of the 2013 Blue Planet Prize. The prize, announced in mid-June by the Asahi Glass Foundation of Tokyo, has been described as the Nobel Prize for the environmental sciences. We'll talk with Sperling about his work and what he sees for the future of fuel and transportation.
Pet Tales If your dog or cat mistakes fireworks for the dawning of the apocalypse then you’re probably open to advice on relaxing your pet this Fourth of July. Pet expert Gina Spadafori joins us for this month’s Pet Tales to explain why animals get so worked up over fireworks, and how you can calm them down.
Anthropophonia An eclectic, generation-spanning Auburn-based band with roots in jazz and folk music with a touch of improvisation is performing this Sunday at Raphael Garden at Rudolf Steiner College. According to singer Beth Gillogly,
Anthropophonia is not your average band and this is not your ordinary concert. It’s a celebration of St. John’s Day and it is also a fundraiser for the Raphael Garden, which is one of the few biodymanic farms in the area. We’ll talk with the band about what they do and hear them perform in our studio.
