The Public Art Process For The Arena Thursday, May 28, 2015 | Sacramento, CA Listen / download audio Update RequiredTo play audio, update browser or Flash plugin. Controversy over the selection of a Jeffrey Koons' sculpture for the new Entertainment and Sports Complex in downtown Sacramento brought renewed interest - and funds - to public art programs in Sacramento. In an effort to capitalize on the public art conversation - and spur involvement in the second phase of the selection process for public art by local artists in the ESC Plaza - the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission held a series of workshops and panels on various aspects of the process. The sessions were open to local artists and community members and wrapped up in mid-May. Artists are now encouraged to start submitting proposals. We'll talk with Shelly Willis about the grant-selection process and what people should know about it. LINKS: Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission Public Art
