We'll get an update on the situation from UC Davis Professor Keith Watenpaugh and hear about a student-led benefit concert aimed at helping Syrian university students displaced by the violence.

Corporations Using Medi-Cal? Are big corporations like Wal-Mart "dumping" the burden of providing health care onto California taxpayers? Authors of Assembly Bill 880 in the California legislature say "yes" and hope to stop large companies from driving down workers’ wages and hours so the employee qualifies for Medi-Cal, the state’s health care program for the poor, elderly or disabled. Retailers and restaurant owners say the bill will "require larger businesses to pay the state a fine for each employee who is enrolled in the state's Medi-Cal program" and does "nothing to reduce rising health care costs." We’ll speak with UC Berkeley labor researcher Ken Jacobs about the legislation making its way through the Capitol and a report he recently released documenting how many workers in California are "dumped" into Medi-Cal by their employers.
