Wilhelm Stenhammar (1871-1927)
Inspired by the sunny Mediterranean climate of Italy on a trip to Florence, Swedish composer Wilhelm Stenhammar composed his "Serenade" in the early 1900s. It's been described as "Southern Temperament combined with Nordic dreaminess," and as one of his two greatest orchestral compositions. It's today's Midday Masterpiece at 2:00 pm.
