George Friedrich Handel's famous opening theme for the “Arrival of the Queen of Sheba” in his oratorio, Solomon, was actually written 15 years earlier by Georg Philipp Telemann.
This was not the only case of Handel’s recycling of other composers’ music. Some have called this “creative borrowing.” Others call it plagiarism. In this hour, we'll hear a variety of examples that could be used to support either case.
