Popular Parrot At The Sacramento Zoo Dies

Jasper, a plain-colored Amazon parrot at the Sacramento Zoo known for his ability to say "Hello!" and "Here Kitty, Kitty," has died after battling a severe heart condition. The zoo says Jasper was euthanized Monday afternoon.

A ring-tailed lemur found in a Turlock backyard is temporarily on exhibit at the Sacramento Zoo. Zookeepers believe the animal was part of the illegal pet trade and appears to have no experience with other lemurs.

Blood Lollipops And Cool Showers Help Zoo Animals Cope In Heatwave

When the weather gets hot like today, the Sacramento Zoo helps some of its animals cool down by spraying them with water. The carnivores get blood lollipops or ice with animal blood in it. Other animals have access to air conditioned areas.
