Louis Morales: Mayor of Tent City
This weekend's show is for and inspired by Louis Morales. We met about two years ago. He was rescuing a dog near an underpass on Folsom Boulevard. Ever since then we would occasionally see one another on the stretch between CapRadio and the 65th Street light rail station. On one of our visits he told me to search YouTube for the phrase "mayor of tent city."
Louis and I bumped into each other this week and he gave me a copy of The Scholastic Encyclopedia of The Presidents and Their Times. It was a lovely gesture and inspired this week's theme. Thanks for giving it a listen (this week especially).
More "Mortal Men"
This year marks the 10th anniversary of our featured album Of Great And Mortal Men (43 Songs for 43 U.S. Presidencies). It boasts a gagle of terrific guest artists like Tom Brosseau and Bill Callahan (from well before they were on my radar). It's still available to purchase and say, why not revisit this interivew about it from NPR's All Things Considered?
