The orchestral transcription of Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor is the memorable opening of the Disney film Fantasia, where the music was conducted by the man who created it — Leopold Stokowski.
But far less known are the Bach arrangements by Mahler, Respighi, Elgar, and Schoenberg, among others.
In this hour we’re going to take care of that, in a program of music that might be called “re-imagined Bach.”
