Along with the rest of California, September home sales in the eight-county Sacramento region jumped significantly.

“Sacramento County was the strongest September home sales in four years, statewide it was the strongest in five years,” said Andrew LePage with CoreLogic DataQuick.

LePage said 1,936 homes were sold last month in Sacramento County, a 3 percent increase from September 2013.

The median home sales price of $260,000 in Sacramento County was an 8 percent increase from the year before.

"We continue to see price growth slowing, but we're still up significantly from a year ago," said LePage.

LePage said Placer County's median September home sale price of $390,000 led the eight-county Sacramento region.

He said there's "significant demand" for homes in the area, but inventory is "a bit thin" in the lower price ranges.
