Insight host Beth Ruyak introduces The View From Here: Place and Privilege, an in-depth multimedia initiative examining the housing crisis in Sacramento. In this first podcast episode, reporters Amy Quinton, Cosmo Garvin and Pauline Bartolone discuss the people, places and policies they’ve covered over the course of the yearlong project.

The reporters explain how housing policies have segregated the city and what local leaders are trying to do to reverse the trend. They share first-person stories from people who are struggling to afford housing and some who are dealing with the health effects of not having a place to live.

Reporter Amy Westervelt joins the discussion to talk about the rapidly growing housing crisis in the Tahoe region.
