Burning Man Organizers Consider Airport Shuttle Service

(AP) — Organizers of Burning Man are looking to offer flights directly to the festival.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that organizers have been reviewing proposals from air carrier services to contract out air shuttle service to get some of the 70,000 attendees to northern Nevada's Black Rock Desert faster. Flights would potentially depart from Reno, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Burning Man is an annual arts gathering. In the early 1990s, it was attended by only a few hundred people. Since 2011, however, it has attracted tens of thousands.

Organizers are set to decide which companies will be contracted soon, but have not said if the flights would begin in time for the August event.
